Mob Psycho has 100 new episodes on deck today, but for now, the show seems to be heading for all the wrong reasons. Earlier today, the trend started as soon as a report came out from Japan regarding one of the stars of the show. An article has been published by Yahoo News Japan accusing Reigen’s voice actor of having an affair despite being married for a decade.
For those unfamiliar with the star, Takahiro Sakurai is at the center The scandal that followed the Yahoo News report. The actor, who has starred in several notable anime roles, first sparked curiosity this week when his popular radio show ended abruptly. Their alleged 48-year-old affair was revealed shortly after the show ended, and Yahoo News was able to speak directly to Sakurai about the ordeal.

According to reports, Sakurai is married to an unnamed woman, but his relationship status is not widely known. This allowed him to have an affair with a co-worker he didn’t know was married. In the end, the mistress found out about Sakurai’s wife and she ended up in the hospital before retiring. Eventually, news of the affair spread around the industry forcing Sakurai to go on an apology tour and end his radio show. If current reports are correct, Sakurai has been with his partner for 10 years, but the relationship broke up as soon as the woman learned that he was married in September.

At the moment, there is no information on how or whether this scandal will affect Sakurai’s current roles. Fans will know the actor for many of the roles, but for now, he can be heard as Reigen Arataka in Mob Psycho 100. The anime returned with its third season earlier this month, so there are still plenty of episodes to release. Outside of shonen song, Sakurai has also lent his voice to shows like Digimon Adventure, Zatch Bell, Bleach, Code Geass, Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul and many more.
